Most of the bird's color is not from pigment but from refraction, so the same area (the throat for example) can
appear black when incident light if from one angle but iridescent red when the light is from a different angle.
Celestron C6 (150mm aperture, 1500mm FL, a small astronomical telescope) and Canon XTi
The bird was about 30 meters from the camera
