The Deer Lick Group is a collection of galaxies in the constellation Pegasus that fortuitously line up as seen from earth. NGC7331, the large spiral galaxy, is about 40 million light years from us. The collection of smaller galaxies to the left of NGC7331 are at z = 0.02-0.03. I calculate that to correlate to a distance of about 100 MPsc/350 million light years but your mileage(and your cosmological constants) may vary. Right click on image for full size (2.5 Mb) |
